Optect introduces a major breakthrough in fire detection. With 10X the range of current flame sensing products, Optect makes the fastest and most reliable form of fire detection attractive for a range of new applications including the protection of forests and wildland areas.

Tethir (with brand names Optect and Mode Black) brings major developments in optical technology to a number of fields. Its new wildfire detection solution is designed to be 10X better at detecting small fires than any existing flame sensor. By catching small fires early, Tethir hopes to drastically reduce the impact of human-caused wildfires and make a significant dent in the current contribution of wildfires to global carbon emissions, which currently stands at a staggering 20%. Its work on miniaturising Free Space Optics devices led to a place on the TEAC program run by Facebook and a collaboration with BT for a next generation last-mile internet technology. The technology is now being applied in the military domain.Tethir has a toolkit of optical designs and a multi-disciplined team, capable of building breakthrough technologies across a range of applications.

Palliser Engineers is an industrial research company developing advanced Optical Technology for use in Free Space Optics devices (Innovate UK project OWLS - April 2017-February 2018) and new applications in the solar industry (Innovate UK project OTHELLO - January 2018 - July 2019). As project OWLS comes to a successful conclusion, Tethir Ltd has been established to commercialise the technology, with a focus on applications in the Rail and Autonomous vehicle markets.
