  • City Of Sydney
Contractor - Climate Change Adaptation & Energy Efficiency
City Of Sydney Jul 2013 - Jul 2016
    Sydney, Australia
Project manager developing and writing the Climate Change Adaptation Plan for the City of Sydney, involving risk and vulnerability assessment and identifying the current adaptive capacity through extensive stakeholder consultation. A key feature of the process was the risk interdependency analysis which helped identify the relationship and knock-on impacts of various climate hazards. And running a deliberative community engagement process, the Citizen's Jury, allowed us to refine and validate the City's plans having worked with residents to seek their input. These inputs led to the preparation of the adaptation pathways, set out over three time frames, 2015-2030, 2030-2050 and 2050-2070. This will ensure the city and other levels of government are coordinated and prepared for the changing climate. This incorporated the social, economic, environmental, legal, essential infrastructure, and long-term planning dimensions of the likely impact and opportunities of the necessary changes. Project manager developing the foundation stages of the City's energy efficiency master plan, working with specialist consultants to develop the energy demand baseline and to identify efficiency opportunities through policy, technology, innovation and collaboration with government, the community and the private sector. http://www.cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0020/241436/Energy-Efficiency-Master-Plan-low-res.pdf

Queensland University Of Technology Aug 2013 - Dec 2013

Whilst working at Stockland I was amazed that despite all the clever building materials, systems and designs available, the thermal efficiency and quality of the as-built housing product built across Australia performed so poorly and are so dependent on energy intensive cooling and heating. This research project is a continuation of that thought process and seeks to identify the barriers to better housing (as built, not just rated as designed!) and then to propose the actions needed to see more energy efficient, thermally comfortable, climate resilient housing that costs less to live in.Is it a question of builder education, market awareness, innovation, regulation, information flow or other factors? Watch this space to find out!
