About Hugh Covill

As a child I structured the neighbourhoods after school and holiday visions. I scoped locations and ensured we acquired the correct building materials for tree houses, made ancillary bike runs to connect the influencers and shore up numbers for group bike rides, I conscripted my dad [stretching the truth around sleepovers] as an accomplice and wooden weapons manufacturer for the great Cypress tree battle and invented imaginative “Rune Goldberg” tree-house trapdoor systems. The years have rolled forward but the stakes feel equally high as I contribute to the leadership of some of the world’s most preeminent major events. The only difference being; my skill-set is now described as Collaborative leader, Project manager, Design thinker and Assertive Communicator. The strength of my management practice stems from an interdisciplinary career trajectory. My pathway to arts management forged from years working as a creative for theatre, casino spectacles, Opera, Dance and public space installations. These creative collaborations led to an Australia Council funded opportunity to study in the USA whereupon I found myself contributing to major infrastructure projects. Now I’m crafting the world’s most intriguing major events, transforming the public realm into festival playgrounds, levitating giant things with the help of helium and laughing a lot.
