The Center for Complex Systems and Enterprises (CCSE) is engaged in the development of multi-level computational models of sociotechnical systems -- coupled with compelling interactive visualizations -- enabling key stakeholders to 'drive the future'​ before they 'write the check.' Such processes enable discussions and debates within computational frameworks where ideas and opinions are translated into strategies and policies that play out and demonstrate consequences, both anticipated and emergent. At the very least, it enables rapid evaluation and elimination of bad ideas. My focus at the CCSE was on urban systems and urban resilience.

Designed or planned over 1,500 beds, 390 thousand gross square feet, and 110 million dollars of work, with almost all of these projects constructed. Projects were county jails in a four state region of the Midwest including Allen County and Neosho County in Kansas, Bremer County in Iowa, and Adair, Bates, Lafayette, and Caldwell counties in Missouri.
