The extreme temperatures -50 degrees C, limited daylight and remote location compound the hazards, such as the real threat of frostbite and encounters with wolves and bears, and make detailed planning essential. Everything from accommodation strings on skis, to food, bottled water and fuel being long hauled into an area without roads or infrastructure. -
