Working predominantly as a design engineer, I am responsible for: client liaison, conceptual development and design, hand calculations to Australian Standards, generating detailed engineering drawings, performing FEA analyses, material selection and sourcing, managing workshop staff, quality assurance, and provision of as-built drawings when required. Further to my design work, I am involved in the development and associated site training of our range of drilling survey and orientation tools. For core orientation and bore hole surveys, Islex provides unique products used throughout Australia and around the world. After playing a role in the development of the tools, I now train drilling crews in the operation of the tools when required. This sees me travelling around Australia in exploration, open cut, and underground mining environments.I have gained exposure to estimating and quoting jobs, and have played a role in developing new revenue streams for the company. My skills have also been used for technical presentations to current and potential future clients on the application of plastics in their operations.

Liaise with clients and participate in business presentations and marketing. Identification of business opportunities.Assist in the design and development of innovative products. Take an active role in the design and application of prototypes to industry. Complete design calculations to Australian and International standards. Provide drafting services for development and construction purposes. Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulations for new product development and design validation.

Assist in drilling operations throughout Queensland, both FIFO and local Brisbane projects. Maintain assorted heavy machinery and work as part of a team to ensure shift targets are met. Contribute in the design and fabrication of structural and non-structural steel components. Rose to lead offsider. Received training in drill rig operation, when casing domestic water bores. Trusted to complete work independently/unsupervised, as well as train new employees. Gained experience with respect to steel fabrication, machinery maintenance, client relations, staff management, and task organisation.

Work with geologists to collect and record drilling samples at various central Queensland operations. Develop SOP’s for various drilling operations. Maintain company fleet vehicles.Developed SOP’s were implemented and resulted in the ongoing safe completion of various drilling operations.

Provide transport and logistics services in the form of furniture removal. Prepare and complete necessary workplace documents. Interact with clients, and ensure their expectations are met.Received award for employee of the month for all of South East Queensland, February 2010. Gained experience in the operation of MR vehicles. Reimbursed the company with my experience by training new employees.

Offside on grade control drill rigs, before training new employees in the role. Operate Driltech D45KS, Custom Longreach drill rig, Tamrock CHA 1100. Assist in the service and maintenance of varied heavy drilling equipment. Train new employees in D45KS operations. Record and report on all drilling operations through company documentation.Selected to be the first crew member to be trained in the operation of the new Tamrock Pantera 1500 drill rig, for the purpose of training the remainder of the crew. Developed an understanding of basic mining operations and lifestyle.
