I am the lead of the architecture team for CRM, the flagship product of DealerSocket. While providing leadership and guidance for the entire engineering team, I reverse engineered a number of areas in the architecture and solved critical architecture problems in production. I have also defined the architecture roadmap based on my evaluation and closely working with the product team on alignment.

At CBS, Hugh has had major accomplishments in three areas: 1) Application Architect: Hugh was initially brought into CBS to salvage a business critical application that had suffered serious architecture problems and could not go to production due to those problems. Hugh performed in-depth analysis for the application that had 500+ KLOC. After identifying the issues, Hugh established the refactoring approach through a POC phase and then led the team towards a successful delivery 3 years later. Throughout the project, Hugh solved countless architecture challenges and performance issues. 2) Trailblazing/innovation work: · API-led enterprise integration using MuleSoft - Hugh has established the technology platform, trained the developers, and successfully implemented applications in production · Hugh has stood up and evangelized the DevOps practice by implementing TFS, release automation, regression testing and performance testing· 4GL modernization – There is a business critical application built using an outdated 4GL technology from the 1990s. As one of the solution options to modernize the application, Hugh built a code conversion framework using a parser generator to turn legacy 4GL code into C# code· Built POC of an Azure hosted web application using MongoDB back end for one of the internet applications· Adapted the aforementioned business critical application backend framework for HTML5 web front end, paving way for wider web enablement of this desktop application3) Enterprise Architecture: Hugh collaborated with the EA team in defining various reference architectures (RA); Hugh also helped define the Conceptual Architecture Review process for engineering potential solutions at the conceptual architecture level for incoming project requests; As part of the healthier IT initiative, Hugh worked with business divisions to define the respective road maps

Here are a few highlights of my client engagements:· Real Estate Company: my involvement included efforts to reorganize the application development department, to re-architect and refactor mission critical business applications, to facilitate portal and business intelligence developments, and to provide guidance and direction to the department. Rather than playing a traditional consultant role, I was the VP of Application Development during the one year engagement. I led several initiatives while I provided overall leadership for the application development department and 3rd party vendor management.· Global Consulting Company: Lead Architect of building a smart building management portal aimed at helping customers manage energy consumption in their portfolio. The application architecture is comprised of ASP.NET front end, SQL, SSRS, and SSAS in the backend. It also has a SOA architecture that 1) offers web services to the customers and 2) integrates with other vendors’ crucial services around diagnostics functions of machine/equipment installed inside buildings. I managed a virtual team of 20+ onshore and offshore development and infrastructure resources. · Package Shipping Company: Company decided to migrate a mission-critical legacy C++ application to .NET/WPF due to its aging architecture and high maintenance cost. I led the initial envisioning efforts of the new target architecture. During the implementation phase, I was the Lead Architect for the design and implementation of the foundation of the new architecture: Interop Framework. This framework serves two purposes: 1) allowing for continuous evolution to the target architecture 2) enabling development of new functions leveraging larger resource pool. I led the team to successful delivery of the framework with my in-depth Interop knowledge and strong work ethics. It has paved way for ongoing refactoring and migration that will last through the next 3 years.

While in China, I worked with Microsoft Consulting Service to deliver its largest banking solution in China for a customer headquartered in Shanghai. I was the lead architect in several key areas: front-end framework based on CCF, validation framework, logging framework, development framework. I also played advisory role on security, messaging, workflow, etc., for the architecture team. I constantly provided leadership and mentoring for both Avanade and Microsoft consultants on the team, winning trust from both Microsoft and the customer, thus helping Avanade establish foothold in China.
