Currently working for H2 Learning on the Aquaculture Remote Classroom project in collaboration with Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM). During this project my roles included spreading awareness about aquaculture in ireland to schools throughout the country and attending events to support the seafood industry.

Work carried out under a temporary basis using mussel samples provided by Bord Iascaigh an Mharaigh (BIM). Work was conducted to distinguish between non-native and native species of mussels in the Genus: Mytilus within various BIM farms located in Ireland. Methods used include DNA extraction (Chelex method), PCR and qPCR. Gel electrophoresis on agarose gel was then used to view the PCR samples with both species being identifiable through their contrasting band widths.
