A CEDR accredited civil and commercial mediator, conflict coach and CEDR adjudicator. Registered with, and a panel member of, the Civil Mediation Council (including the Fixed Fee Scheme), Clerksroom, The Society of Mediators, Unity Legal Solutions and Wandsworth Mediation Service (Commercial Panel). Trained by Global Mediation Solutions in Online Mediation via Zoom. After spending over 40 years as a solicitor in private practice, mainly in the field of dispute resolution, I now mainly concentrate on mediation, in which I have been a firm believer since taking part in my first mediation as a solicitor in 1997. I have an approachable, facilitative style encouraging mediating parties to work together towards a mutually acceptable solution, while at the same time using my experience to encourage them to undertake a realistic appraisal of the strengths and weaknesses of their respective cases. As a solicitor I advised on a wide range of disputes, mainly in the areas of arbitration, commercial, competition, contentious trust and probate, costs and compliance issues in solicitors' firms, professional negligence and property. My mediation practice reflects this broad experience. I was President of the London Solicitors Litigation Association from 1998 – 2000, at the time of the Woolf Reforms which encouraged and incentivised litigants to mediate. From 2003 - 2013, I was managing partner of Gordon Dadds, with which firm I spent the greater part of my career. My management experience taught me the importance of settling time-consuming and expensive disputes in a pragmatic and firm manner without simply papering over the cracks. I also developed a reputation for establishing a rapport with individuals and guiding them through the unfamiliar territory of dispute resolution with tact and sensitivity. For mediation, as for most things in life, I believe that preparation is the key to success. I can help you to get the best out of the mediation process.
