As the primary engineer, I perform all Structural Engineering work which includes the conceptual design, preparation of calculations, completion of structural drawings (plans, notes, & details), coordination with the contractor and other design entities, and project site visits throughout the course of construction. When applicable, I oversee support staff in their roles of supplemental engineering and construction document production.Additionally, as the company owner, I handle all company business as necessary for this professional service company. In this role, I accomplish all necessary tasks related to general office support. Also and most importantly, I communicate with the clients and sub-consultants to prepare all appropriate business contracts and project documentation.

Similar to the current position described above, I was responsible for all Structural Engineering efforts. Additionally, I communicated with the client and prepared necessary contracts for projects primarily of an engineering nature.

In this position, I performed site visits to structures damaged by earthquakes, fire, moisture intrusion, and other miscellaneous or unknown elements. I interviewed the occupants, observed and documented the damage, and then prepared a detailed report containing the assembled data along with my professional opinions of causation and remediation.When needed, I also accomplished structural engineering design and the creation of construction documents for existing buildings to be retrofitted or otherwise modified.

In my work with PCA, I was part of a team which performed site visits to damaged structures under insurance claim review. We observed and documented the existing construction aspects and all visible damage. With the collected data, I prepared detailed analyses indicating the specific repair recommendations and projected costs to return the structure to its pre-incident condition.

In my former role as a Project Engineer, I prepared the engineering calculations and was responsible for the preparation of the construction documents via directing, overseeing, and directly assisting drafting personnel to create the structural plans, notes, and details. My duties also included coordination with the owner, architect, and contractor throughout the course of construction.Although I transitioned into other employment opportunities, I continued to work on a consultant basis whereby my primary task was to accomplish site visits to observe the project construction efforts and ensure compliance with the approved structural plans. Additionally, I was responsible for project research via building histories.

In this position and less than 2 weeks following receipt of by B.S. degree, I was responsible for preparing structural engineering calculations on building projects. These projects varied in type (residential, commercial, miscellaneous) and utilized a wide variety of materials (wood, concrete, masonry, structural steel, & light-gage metal). I was also responsible for coordinating with the architect and contractor to ensure compliance with the design intents. I worked with our in-house drafting department to direct the preparation of the plans, notes, and details required for each project; often, I participated in the document creation as well.
