Roger worked for over 20 years in all aspects of residential development for the family business – Robert Hughes Limited. Specialising in the creative re-purposing of select brown field sites into desirable residential properties, his role was to lead the design team and project manage multiple building sites, supporting up to 150 tradespeople.Projects included the conversions of multiple farms and barns, Victorian hotels and Arts & Crafts country houses, building ‘big one offs’ and 40 new-build lake side apartments.

Windermere, Cumbria

Project procurement; assessment and viability studies, desk and site investigation, consulting with planning authorities, preparing planning submissions and implementing conditions.Co-ordinating and liaising with clients, architects, structural engineers and specialist consultants. Achieving overall compliance with all building regulations and required standards. Preparing and evaluating tender documents, negotiating and appointing contracts for general and specialist sub-contractors. Performing monthly budget cost analysis. Designing kitchen and bathroom layouts and key internal architectural features. Responsible for hard and soft landscape design.Office based site support, handling day-to-day construction matters, overcoming design defects and ensuring overall design integrity. Significant role in project sales, including planning and implementing marketing campaigns, website design, staging of show homes, photography and organising project launches.
