While studying at OSU, I worked as a campus tour guide. In addition to giving a 90-minute memorized walking tour of the campus, I answered questions from prospective students and their families, and scheduled campus visits based on prospective students’ interests.

Tualatin, Oregon, United States

Through the MECOP internship program, I worked in Lam’s Tualatin factory, in High-Volume Manufacturing of the Striker line of Plasma-Enhanced Chemical-Vapor Deposition (PECVD) tools. I followed the 8D method of problem solving to identify and eliminate inefficiencies in the manufacturing process, and redesigned kits used to test Lam Sabre tools, using Poka-Yoke principles and color-coding.

Everett, Washington, United States

Through the MECOP internship program, I worked at the Boeing factory in Everett, WA. I updated and enhanced Installation Plans (IPs) used by mechanics to install tubes, couplings, and other components on the Boeing 767 Factory Line. I drew information from complex specifications and used custom applications to coordinate with shop mechanics.

Tigard, Or

I worked for the nonprofit Tualatin Riverkeepers, renting out kayaks and canoes to the general public. Most days were 10 hours long, with around 50 customers, on average. I tracked sales, resolved customer complaints, multitasked to meet the needs of customers, trained and mentored new workers, and was responsible for daily set-up and take-down of the rental booth. I worked weekends, but adjusted my shifts to cover coworkers, when necessary.

Through the Apprenticeships in Science and Engineering program (affiliated with the Saturday Academy Program), I was given an opportunity to work at BPA in the Structural Engineering Department. While learning basic engineering principles, I gained skills in the Microsoft Suite, as well as Microstation and ATADS tower design software.
