I am a former military aviator turned Entrepreneur, Chair, CEO, NED and Board Advisor. I served in the RAF for 20 years and feel privileged to have been part of the United Kingdom’s Armed Forces. After leaving the military, I founded Inzpire Ltd, which rapidly grew to become a highly trusted provider to UK and international Armed Forces. I note that many LinkedIn users claim to be ‘inspirational leaders’, ‘brilliant communicators’ and ‘outstanding strategists’, etc. I do not claim to be any of these things. To quote Isaac Newton, if I have achieved something worthwhile“ it is by standing on the shoulders of giants”. At Inzpire, our success belonged to us all.I am very proud of Inzpire and all the remarkable things that we achieved over the course of 18 years, including its acquisition in 2018 by FTSE 250 company QinetiQ. We were recognised as having ‘extraordinary’ levels of employee engagement by the Best Companies organisation for ten years running, and were named ‘Employer of the Year’ by the Heropreneurs organisation. Inzpire won 2 Queens Awards for Enterprise. I was selected as best leader of a UK large business by Best Companies in 2021, have twice been a finalist in the National Business Awards ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ competition, and was selected as one of the ‘Maserati 100’ - the 100 UK entrepreneurs who are ‘game-changing’ their sector. With Inzpire behind me, I am now thoroughly enjoying my roles as NED for Arvra Wellness (healthtech), Shield Counter UAS Solutions (drones), Playfinder (sports tech) and MKCTS (training). Previously, I sat on the board of the McOnie Agency (a leading UK advertising agency), and was a founder investor in Midwest Blockchain (fintech), which we sold to DLTx. In addition, I am CEO of the Top Banana Group of companies and a three-term member of the UK Government Cabinet Office SME Panel which briefs at ministerial level. My personal goals are simple: to remain happy and optimistic, and to live by standards and values that I can be proud of. And to make a difference. What else is there? If I can give something back to others in return, then so much the better. I believe that no person can help another without helping themselves too. Kindness, like a boomerang, always returns.Personal growth matters to me. Alongside a fast-jet aviation background, I have an MBA (Distinction) from Warwick Business School, am a Physics Graduate, Chartered Director and Chartered Manager. I am a Fellow of both the Royal Aeronautical Society and the Institute of Directors, having twice been a ‘Director of the Year’ finalist.
