Temporary assignment. Employeed by ESG and assigned to BAE.ZeroMQ project in Linux. Helped team leader setup Java bindings. Personally wrote C langauge code to use ZeroMQ.Ported legacy Ada-83/Assembly code that ran on a M68K microprocessor to Ada-95 (Gnat) / C code that runs under Ubuntu in VirtualBox/Vagrant virtual machine. I wrote the C code to replace the M68K Assembly code. (Note: I hadn't seen or Ada code prior to the assignment. The expectation was that I would learn it.)Worked on a test team where I wrote automated test scripts for Web software in Ruby, Cucumber and C to ensure software meets contracted requirements which were organized in Rational DOORS software. Required understanding of HTML, CSS and JavaScript. (Note: I hadn't seen Ruby or Cucumber code prior to the assignment. Once again, I'm expected to learn in order to complete the assignment.) This also runs under Ubuntu on a VirtualBox/Vagrant virtual machine.

SOLDII is multiuser software that uses Proven Software’s proprietary database system and will run on Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Slackware) or Windows 2003/2008/2012. SOLDII also deals with complex sales tax calculations in the U.S. and GST/VAT calculations in Canada and other nations. GST/VAT calculations can be complex for auctioneers due to lack of a fixed Cost of Goods Sold (CoGS).Designed, developed and maintain the Proven Software proprietary database to support SOLDII and other products. The database uses an AVL balanced binary tree. It supports full locks or write locks in both Linux and Windows.Designed, developed and maintain a web interface which allows bidders connected to the Internet to bid on live auctions occurring in a traditional auction hall using Linux server (RHEL or CentOS), Apache, XHTML, HTML5, CSS, PHP, PHP CGI, JavaScript and AJAX. The result is an increased bidder base for the customers resulting in higher bids and higher profit.Created the Proven Software Plug n Go system; a Slackware based Linux server installed on a bootable USB drive. This required me to configure the loopback file system and write shell scripts that could auto-detect the correct boot partition during the 2nd of 3 boot phases. This provided the customers with a portable Linux server for running field auctions.Designed and wrrote custom print spooler for use with SOLDII under Saas using NX because the existing spooler didn't meet the needs of the customers.Designed and developed a voice mail system which interfaced to a serial modem before VOIP became widely available.Wrote terminal emulator that controlled the serial UART by using the ioctl() Linux system call.
