As a BSc graduate of Geology and an MSc graduate of Exploration Field Geology from University College Cork, I have acquired a thorough understanding of exploration geology and ground investigation. This is complimented by over thirteen (13) years of applied experience.I was employed as an exploration geologist in Australia where I was contracted to large mining houses such as BHP and Anglo American. During this time I was promoted from Exploration Geologist to Crew Coordinator and Supervising Geologist in both greenfield sites and mine sites across the Bowen Basin, Queensland. I was involved in most types of coal exploration projects for both opencast and underground mine expansion programs.Through my MSc studies I built on the knowledge and skills gained through the BSc as well as my work experience to date; most notably in subjects dealing with geotechnical investigation and monitoring of soils and rocks, slope instabilities, hydrogeology, mineral and hydrocarbon exploration, structural geology, geophysical techniques, ArcGIS training and economic geology. As a geotechnical contractor and geo-environmental consultant over the past nine (9) years I have expanded my skill set substantially to include assessments of soil limitations, interpretive ground investigation reports, coal mine risk assessments, slope stability assessments, earthworks specifications, environmental assessment, contaminated land risk assessment, hydrological modelling and assessment, waste management and soil remediation. My strong understanding of geology, data management and integration, environmental regulatory compliance and risk management helped me integrate into the mining, exploration and geotechnical-environmental sectors very well and fulfil clients’ requirements. I am a motivated, dedicated individual, who loves a challenge and performs well under pressure. I have exhibited this in my academic as well as professional exploits to date.
