• Within the Scholarship Support & Retention Department at MSU Denver, the Alternative Break Program is designed to serve as a steppingstone for scholars to become engaged within their community and help address social issues.• Coordinated spring and summer break program trips designed to engage students in social issues through direct service. • Contacted and collaborated with partners to ensure service trips for participants to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, Cheyenne River Youth Project, and La Puente in Alamosa, CO. • Created an application process for both participants and student leaders for the program. Developed a point based vetting process for both. • Developed and co-facilitated two-day training with guest speakers covering topics like communication and conflict management for student leaders of the program. • Fundraised $1,200 for student program fees and mutual aid for our partners.

• Worked under Senator Chris Hansen and Senator Bob Rankin.• Crafted effective policy that is grounded in science and engineering, specifically drafted legislation that promotes water loss control programs and best practices for water providers in the State of Colorado.• Presented findings and final draft of the legislation and surrounding research to the Senior Water Efficiency Specialist of the Colorado Water Conservation Board and Colorado Senators. • Helped to increase the presence of individuals in public policy that come from a science and engineering background with a focus on assisting in the development of the next generation of policy and science leaders in Colorado.
