Amnesty's Arabic media team wanted specialist help to cope with demand for gobs and stories across the Arab Spring's ever-changing human rights picture. Choosing, briefing and deploying English- and Arabic- speaking experts to broadcast, I also helped develop Amnesty's political line for its growing Arab audience.Save the Children's summer was busy in the Islamic world - 10 years on from UK troops entering wartorn Afghanistan, I helped STC prepare a raft of expert analysis for release on October 7th. I also helped coordinate media response to floods in Sindh province, Pakistan, securing coverage from BBC, Al Jazeera and Times newspaper. On a separate contract, I monitored Arab media in the wake of an emerging story which alleged STC's humanitarian work had been compromised by US security operations in South Asia.

I launched one of the largest community-led, UK government-funded Preventing Violent Extremism projects in West London. The MPower Youth Project - part of the government's Prevent agenda - identifies and engages disaffected Muslim youth from South Asian and Somali backgrounds who may be vulnerable to radicalisation and we support them with police input and community help. This multi-agency, community-based approach is unique in Europe and the Office of Security and Counter Terrorism has trained me to deliver workshops to raise awareness of radicalisation issues in communities. Nationally, I liaise with government partners in OSCT and the Home Office. I also act, to date, as consultant to counter-radicalisation projects in the UK and abroad.Leading on budgeting and tailoring output to suit local, national and international priorities, my role was what I made it - with some considerable success. MPower became a model for other counter-radicalisation projects in Europe and our work supporting vulnerable young people in communities and schools is still being showcased in UK and abroad.

I researched and produced for Inside Story programme, special projects and sports coverage. Similar to BBC2's Newsnight, Inside Story is a high-pressure daily news feature programme. I used my contacts to book guests ranging from Gaza hospital's Dr Thabet Al-Masri to former CIA agent Bob Baer. Writing and editing scripts and briefing presenters while managing a team. I produced correspondents' packages as well as reporting my own stories (showreel available). My promotion to programme producer came after only 5 months.I used technical editing software on a daily basis - Newsbrowse and Final Cut Pro - as well as newsroom software developed for Al Jazeera. Special Projects - Outside Broadcaster and Field Producer, Damascus, Cairo, Jerusalem. Among others, I co-shot and produced a two-part special film on Bush's visit to Jerusalem in Jan 2008 and a travel and entertainment show, 48, in Damascus which was nominated for a One World Award in 2006. In this role, I smoothed the way for the channels to collaborate in the lead-up to AJE's launch in Autumn 2006 - and beyond.

I edited the findings from this to produce a NATO/Kluwer publication.Coordinator of high-profile discussions on the US Patriot Act, Bahrain and London, Jan-July 2004. Conclusions from this dialogue were used by the Arab Financial Forum to lobby the US Attorney General when the US Patriot Act came under review in late 2004.
