In 1977, the new owner of Chateau Margaux which had not produced wine since 1961, hired the famous winemaker Emile Peynaud and asked him what he needed to make the best wine in the world. He responded: "It is not that difficult, the only think you need to give me are the best grapes." Our purpose is to produce one of the best wines in the world. A wine that transcends as an experience for the body and the soul, that shows utmost respect for the soil it grew in, the artisans who created it and which delivers an experience full of satisfaction. Accordingly, the PINEA team works with integrity and passion, applying effort and experience to grow the best possible grapes from our estate vineyards in the Ribera del Duero. Spain. Located in the northern part of the Ribera del Duero denomination of origin near the towns of Olmedillo and Villatuelda, at 3,000 ft average altitude, our grapes are subject to wonderful stress provided by hot summer days and fresh nights with extreme temperatures that range from snowy winters to triple-digit summer, with 40+ degree diurnal-nocturnal temperature shift. Our mature vineyards (some over 94+ years young) planted on different soils, are farmed following sustainable viticulture (organic & dio-dynamic). Carefully managed low yields allow for tremendous complexity of flavors, and perfumy aromatics. Our grapes are harvested by hand in small baskets to allow fruit to arrive to the winery in optimal condition, and our team employs non-manipulative techniques to let the fruit be the star. Aging for years in the best French-oak barrels adds to the complexity and elegant texture. The result: a wine to awaken your senses, create minutes of pleasure and become part of moments that last forever. To learn more, please visit: www.pinea.wine “De gustibus non est disputandum.”
