Profile bio

About Hugo Ladret

Hi ! I try to understand how the brain works, and just graduated with a double PhD in Computational Neuroscience and Electrophysiology. Following a rewarding journey through a B.Sc. in Cell Biology, I started working on a long-standing passion of mine, and pivoted towards the realm of Artificial Intelligence. This led me to earn a M.Sc. in Neuroscience, endowing me with the biological insights to engineer better artificial neural networks.Recently, my research has thrived on the crossroads of diverse disciplines, blending experimental biology with computational modelling. My particular focus is unraveling the complexities of cortical networks underlying visual processes, which I've been studying through a blend of innovative laboratory work.I am always looking forward to connecting with professionals, researchers, and enthusiasts who share an interest in these fields. Feel free to reach out!

Postdoctoral Researcher

Current

Basel, Switzerland

Building on my background as a PhD student focused on understanding the brain's mechanisms for modeling complex environments, I am currently exploring how various treatments for cognitive dysfunctions can deepen our insights into basic brain functions. I aim to translate knowledge about treatments for psychosis to develop innovative discoveries for both.

Phd Student

Marseille Et Périphérie

Funded by the highly competitive "MRT" Grant from the French Research Ministry, awarded to top Masters' students embarking on their PhD journey. I designed and worked on a thesis project entitled 'A multiscale cortical model to account for orientation selectivity in natural images', supervised by Dr. Laurent Perrinet and Pr. Christian Casanova. During.

M.Sc. Thesis (part one): 'Learning Temporal Integrations in a Visual Spiking Neural Network'Supervised by Dr. Laurent PerrinetThis thesis advanced our previous research, probing how recurrent neural networks learn to incorporate temporal information. This aspect, while absent in most deep learning networks, is richly present and informative in biological.

Computational Scientist

Marseille Area, France

In an era before Stable Diffusion models, I worked at the intersection of art, neuroscience, and physics, I collaborated with renowned contemporary artist Etienne Rey and AI researcher Laurent Perrinet to develop computational models that underpinned our art project. Our venture aimed to generate discrete illusory perceptions by distributing particles.
