    aLIGO stands for Advanced Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory. This billion-dollar Nobel-Prize winning N.S.F. project is behind the first gravitational wave detection announced on February 11th 2016. Ground motion limits the sensitivity of the large-scale laser interferometers in use. The seismic team provides solutions to decouple the optics from it.Developed servo controls for the high-end seismic isolation platforms in use and helped provide unprecedented levels of isolation. Coded and maintained the framework for those controls (Simulink/C/Matlab). Provided critical updates to the extensive python infrastructure in charge of orchestrating the turn-on process for the whole interferometer. Systematically used revision control (SVN) to deploy and document updates. Provided on-site and remote operator training and support. Monthly travels to Hanford Site (WA).
