Resolute Forest Products is a global leader in the forest products industry with a diverse range of products, including market pulp, tissue, wood products, newsprint and specialty papers, which are marketed in over 70 countries.The company owns or operates some 40 manufacturing facilities, as well as power generation assets, in the United States and Canada.Officer of the company I was responsible for all corporate accounting and reporting functions. I also served as chief liaison with auditors. Other key elements of the role were leading accurate financial forecasting, accounting, budgeting and reporting processes, ensuring adequate internal controls (SOx 404) were in place to ensure compliance with all applicable business, legislation and regulatory requirements (SEC). I was also a member of hte Pension Investment Committee.

Bombardier Transportation Americas was one of the 4 divisions of Bombardier Transportation (now part of Alstom). It is the largest supplier of rolling stock equipment in North and South America.

ArcelorMittal Mining Canada is the flagship unit of the ArcelorMittal Mining Segment. It is one of the most strategic and profitable unit in the Group. It manages 2 iron ore mines in the Labrador Trough (Mount Wright and Fire Lake), more than 400km of private railroad, a pellet plant and a port in Port-Cartier. With more than 26 million tonnes of shipments and revenues close to 1.4 billion US$, it is the biggest iron ore mining company in North America. The Corporate office is located in downtown Montreal, Quebec.

ArcelorMittal Long Carbon North America was the Long Product Division of ArcelorMittal in the US and Canada. During my time the division had 7 steel mills, five in the US and two in Canada (QC), as well as two wire drawing plants in Canada. With annual shipments close to 3 million tonnes, it was the fourth largest long steel producer in North America. The Corporate office was located in East Chicago (Indiana). I was based in Contrecoeur, Qc, Canada.

As controller I worked with the Long Carbon North America (LCNA) plant controllers, the CFO and the CEO. My main responsibilities were:- Coordination of the monthly closing and consolidation of the financial and operational results. Reporting of the financial statements and the Key Performance Indicators (shipments, inventories, steel production …) to the head office;- Preparation of the monthly report and detailed analysis of the financial and operational performances;- Establishment of the annual budget;- Redaction of specific analysis for the LCNA CEO. Examples: viability assessment of plants; cost benchmarking between different units; product profitability;- Management of the five year strategic plan and the scrap recycling division master plan.

Laiwu Steel Group was in 2006 the 8th largest steel producer in China (10 million tonnes/year, 20,000 employees). It is located in Laiwu Steel City in the Shandong Province.Arcelor negotiated a 38% participation in the company. The JV agreement specified that the senior management positions would be shared equally. I was one of the 7 managers nominated by Arcelor who were sent to Laiwu. My main responsibilities were:- Management of the integration office;- Negotiation with the Chief Technology Officer on the R&D agreement;- Preparation of the monthly performance report;- Redaction of specific analysis for the integration team members . The main analysis were:review of the production cost by type of product; profitability analysis by product; market review for the heavy beams in China.

Member during one year of the project team in charge of the acquisition of 38% of the Laiwu Steel Group. Main achievement: responsible for the due diligence process (30 people for 3 weeks) and the negotiation of the technology transfer agreement framework.Project manager for the acquisition of the rebar factory ‘Zeljezara Split’, Croatia.Member of the ‘LUX2006’ team: rationalization of the Luxembourg steel plants (3 melt shops and 5 rolling mills, workforce reduction from 6,000 to 4,000).

Conception of the Long Carbon risk map for 2002 and 2003 (Europe and South America).Financial and operational audits in the different entities of the Long Carbon sector (USA, Brazil, Hungary, France and Luxembourg).

Analysis of the commercial potential of research projects:1) ARTHUR (Telecommunication Architecture for emergency care Services); 2) Alterface (spin-off company developing interactive multimedia systems for museums, science centers, and amusement parks).Administrative manager for the research projects funded by the European commission.
