This business manufactures traffic safety and signaling equipment. I am involved in the electronic products: vehicle mounted arrows and controllers, variable message signs, radars, yard lights…I am involved in the architecture and the design of new products, mainly based on microprocessors and solar energy. PCBs are developed on Altium platform.Board validation is done with test software I develop in C. Low level code is then transferred to the firmware team.

Gained lots of experience in molding.Anecdote: A customer in Kentucky, was complaining about one of its locomotive remote control going in error mode several times a day. At least 3 technical visits occurred, without fixing it. Even if I was not involved in this line of products back then, I was asked to visit the customer, based on my troubleshooting capabilities. I asked for a couple of days to study the system, and then flew there with a technician from the head office. Took me 2 days, but fixed it. Never heard a single issue after.

Simpler was a start-up developing automated copper switch for CO (Central Office), based on MEMS relays and Clos networks.Involved in system architecture, statistical calculations, cost estimates and reliability.

This company was a start-up named Telecite. Was the only design Engineer back then. In 1999, Alstom acquired Telecite.Designed and programmed LED signs, used on metro cars and stations, worldwide. Firmware programmed in assembler (68000) and C. First design targeted line 2, 4 and 5 of Montreal's metro. Still in use today after over 20 years.Designed and programmed system controller on board trains to receive wireless data and train location, and control in turn on board LED signs accordingly.Designed PA system for metro cars.Technical support for production testing. Designed and programmed many test jigs. Trained test technicians.Most of products designed got CE mark, therefore used to EMC compliance requirements.Major involvement in system engineering.Support to software designer, especially for timing purposes (ex RS-485 network)
