The mission of the HLA is to empower people around the world to prepare for and respond to crises in their own countries. The Academy will work with the humanitarian sector and new partners from the technology industry, private sector and universities to help communities become more resilient in the face of disaster and give them the training and skills to respond to crises in their own countries.

Overall responsibility for the recruitment and HR management of 600 plus seasonal employees globally for World Challenge, a market leading subsidiary of TUI Travel PLC.Key achievements:Recruitment: Through a creative recruitment and retention strategy successfully recruited 420 UK based specialist workers for international positions in an 8 month period.Administration: Created and implemented an employee management and competence database that was stated as a significant factor for the company being awarded the sectors governing body ‘Quality Badge’.Selection: Delivered up to 14 2-day selection courses and numerous competency based interviews. Used a variety of methods including: scenarios, presentations, group discussions, leadership exercises and telephonic and literacy tasks.Leadership: Completed several month long development expeditions in Nicaragua, India, Nepal, Morocco, Malaysia, Borneo and Malawi.
