Mr. Humayun Gauhar’s experience in journalism dates from 1980. In London he conceived and became the Founding Publisher and President of ‘SOUTH’, an international monthly magazine concerning Third World issues. ‘SOUTH’ achieved a circulation of over 100,000 in 160 countries. ‘SOUTH’ was also printed in Chinese in collaboration with the Xinhua News Agency under the name ‘Jingji Shejie’. Mr. Gauhar was also Managing Director of the Third World Foundation for Social and Economic Studies, publishers of the Third World Quarterly, as well as of Third World Media Limited that co-published the ‘Guardian Third World Review’ in collaboration with The Guardian newspaper, London. He was Editor of ‘Politics & Business’, Karachi, and is now Editor-in-Chief and Publisher of ‘Blue Chip’, Pakistan’s leading business monthly magazine – from June 2004 to date. Mr. Gauhar was lead Op-Ed columnist of ‘The Nation’, Pakistan, and now of ‘Pakistan Today’ His weekly articles are translated and published in a number of Pakistan’s vernacular newspapers. He writes occasionally for ‘The Sunday Times’, London and the ‘World Paper’, Boston.
