Laboratory Technician
CurrentPerforms technical and high accuracy electrical calibrations, tests, investigations, repairs, trouble shoot and modifications on all types of electrical instrument. Transformers, shunts, oscilloscopes, signal generators, tuned radio frequency voltmeters, electronic counter timers, frequency meter, power factor meters, watt hour meters, etc. Calibrates all laboratory working standards such as ammeters, voltmeters, watt meters, bridges and electronic standards using primary standards such as standard cells, potentiometers, volt boxes, standard resistors and current shunts and thermocouple transfer standards. Records data and calculates true values, % error and correction factors. Prepares analytical and technical reports.Knowledge of: Electrical theory of D.C. and A.C. circuits including phase diagrams. Principles of solid state electronics, electrical measurement theory, physical sciences and computer theory. Fundamentals of electrical instrumentation and test methods. Operating principles of basic instruments used in electrical measurements. Ability to: Apply theoretical principles to practical use. Perform special and standardized tests and to analyze and interpret results. Prepare analytical reports. Understand and execute oral and written technical instructions. Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment failures.
