Revised the internal controls in order to greatly reduce risk of loss and monitor the controls constantly to ensure adherence to those controls.- Partnered with the Executive team in the development of financial and operating strategic 500 day plan, and developed KPI’s and performance metrics to track operating results in regards to meeting the strategic plan.- Work directly with contracted public accounting firm on the annual financial audit and all Federal and state income tax returns; work directly with DCAA auditors on company audits to ensure compliance with all FAR regulations.- Evaluated Federal and State payroll tax compliance issues, resulting in a reduction in fines and penalties for failure to file in two states by negotiating with state revenue departments to abate penalties due to company error in misinterpreting the tax code and filing requirements.- Directed the change of corporate accounting software to a more cost effective and efficient platform, saving the company over $67,000 annually in software license, support and consulting fees; change also provided a more efficient and quicker turnaround of month end closing process allowing more timely reporting of company operating results.- Work with banking partners on bank account and debt financing needs to ensure ability to acquire the resources needed to fulfill contract and project obligations while minimizing the cost of borrowing in order to maximize the profitability of the projects.- Worked with health insurance agents on restructuring proposed plans in order to reduce company and employee cost of coverage; negotiated with agent on pricing of new plan to attain comparable or enhanced benefits compared to existing plan at only a 2% increase in company cost over the prior plan year.

In October 2013, NOVA Corporation acquired 35% of Advanced Facility Management Services, Inc., after which I was tapped to replace their CFO in order to help realign the accounting and finance department, develop improved processing procedures, assess current accounting software solutions for long term needs, develop policies & procedures for all accounting and finance functions, direct company through ongoing acquisitions and startups, and direct corporate financial operations in order to maximize all Federal, state and local tax benefits and to minimize income and property taxes.
