I am an enthusiastic geologist who is passionate about the geosciences. I am highly experienced both in the laboratory and in the field. I have experience with scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), electron microprobe (EMP), multicollector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) by solution, multicollector thermal ionization mass spectrometer (TIMS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), Raman spectroscopy, laser fluorination oxygen isotope line, delta XP dual inlet gas source mass spectrometer, and cold-seal pressure vessels (capable of reaching 800 degrees C and 3000 bars or 700 degrees C and 6000 bars). I have utilized the metal-free clean labs at Scripps Institution of Oceanography and UCT. Further, I have worked in the Astromaterials Research and Exploration Science (ARES) research laboratories at NASA Johnson Space Center. My field work experiences have taken me to the western United States (Wyoming, New Mexico, and Arizona), Europe (Switzerland and Italy), and South Africa. For example, I have prospected, and collected fossils for scientific study in the western United States, mapped the Lago Ritom area in Switzerland, and learned a lot about South African geology during a two week field excursion all over South Africa, including visits to several types of economic deposits (e.g., SEDEX, gold, diamond, and the Bushveld Complex). I am proficient with the Microsoft Office suite, familiar with AutoCAD, and have research experience using Adobe Illustrator and related programs. I have presented my research at five scientific conferences, I am a co-author on a peer-reviewed publication in PeerJ, and I am preparing a manuscript for publication based off of my master's thesis research.I obtained my B.S. in Geosciences from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) in 2018, and my M.Sc. in Geological Sciences from the University of Cape Town, South Africa in 2020. I am actively looking and applying to jobs in the geosciences.
