RAWAH Ranch is a luxury hotel that offers the western dude ranch experience. Located in the Laramie River Valley in Northern Colorado between Steamboat and Fort Collins. The ranch offers horseback riding; fly fishing, as well as, other outdoor activities accompanied with a fine dining and hospitality experience. SCOPE: As a guide at RAWAH Ranch my responsibility was to build relationships and provide guests with an outstanding and unforgettable fishing experience. I accomplish this by not only coaching and correcting a person’s technique but also by sharing valuable information about ecology, entomology, and fish behavior. While catching fish is what most people are ultimately looking for, my definitive goal as a guide is to improve a person’s fishing ability and/or knowledge. Whether this means that they are able to cast further, or they are simply able to read a river more confidently, I desire everyone to walk away from a session with me learning something new while having more fun than they anticipated.

BSI is a yeast supplier and microbiology lab located in Woodland Park CO. The lab specializes in growing genetically specific strains of brewing yeast, as well as, bacteria; distributing them all over the world. The lab prides itself on the consistence, quality, and timeliness of its product.SCOPE: Using both laboratory and aseptic techniques I worked hard to withhold strict company standards in order to produce some of the most sought-after yeast strains in the brewing industry. I was responsible for growing and packaging yeast, while also being cross-trained in quality control and the preproduction of precursor materials for the propagation process. Experience includes, sterilization and sanitation of media and workplace, plating on different types of media, examination of Agar plates, identifying microorganisms (bacteria and wild yeast), cell counting, PCR, treating contaminated packages, making of reagents in large batches, problem solving, and refining SOP and techniques used around the lab to improve overall company production and efficiency.

Fort Collins, Co

The ALS laboratory in Fort Collins is one of the few labs in the US that deals with highly radioactive samples. Therefore, it holds specific certifications and is used by government agencies as well as independent businesses from around the world. SCOPE: Tested a wide variety of matrices for radioactive isotopes, using complex analytical chemistry techniques and procedures. I demonstrated proficiency by company standards to chemically isolate a multitude of radioactive isotopes each having its own specific procedure and quality standards. Some of the regular projects are contracted through the DOD, DOE, EPA, and USGS. I was also recently added to the Safety Committee at ALS Fort Collins, which meets to help improve the lab quality, discuss potential safety concerns and improvements for the lab. Lab experience and training included mastery of LIMS laboratory software, sample manipulation, critical thinking in order to solve time sensitive problems, diligence and the ability to work both accurately, efficiently, and effectively in order to meet strict deadlines
