Systems Engineer Ii
Systems Engineer I
When I began at PinnacleART, my knowledge and expertise brought value almost instantly. Within the first week, I was already assisting in the planning of my first project as a Pinnacle employee-New Infrastructure Implementation. The project consisted of the deployment of a SAN, Blade Servers, and VCenter/ESXI 6.0 as well as the migration of our legacy 5.1 VCenter to the new infrastructure. My addition to the team expedited the process immensely, and the project was completed ahead of schedule. After the first major project, my focus became the improvement of in place systems and processes. Such improvements consist of DKIM implementation for Exchange, disabling insecure protocols and enabling stronger ciphers on our outward facing servers, and flattening the administration by utilizing LDAP integration with our security software.
System Administrator
Though being the sole System Administrator for a company with 100+ Servers, 3000+ Users, and 1500+ devices was a hefty task, I took it on and was extremely successful. My first project as System Administrator was building a Nagios monitoring system from the ground up. It allowed for proactive monitoring of our environment and informed me of issues in real time. I also helped champion the HVE VDI-in-a-box project and deployed and maintained our Horizon View VDI environment which allowed the more rural clinics use our web based and resource intensive EMR applications efficiently. I was responsible for maintaining the backups of all the servers at Pioneer and used the feature sets of Veeam B & R to it's fullest potential. Because of the plethora of different softwares that Pioneer was required to run effectively, I was very accustomed to upgrading applications, servers, hosts, appliances and end user PCs. In order to stay ahead of the curve, I automated multiple tasks using Powershell, WMI, and batch file scripting such as FTP transfers and log management.
Help Desk Tier Iii/ Training Specialist
Help Desk Tier Ii
After being promoted to Tier II Help Desk Technician, my primary responsibilities shifted more towards the EMR implementation. My first big success was producing the solution and documentation for our complex ILE/DCS scanning system, as well as deploying the scanners to over 100 machines. As my knowledge of McKesson Paragon/HPF expanded, I began taking on more of the administrative tasks such as account management within HPF/Paragon and troubleshooting issues related to permissions within the application.
Help Desk Tier I
I began my post graduate career at Pioneer Health Systems, a healthcare enterprise level company, as a Tier 1 Help Desk Technician. When I first started, I was tasked with putting an Acronis Imaging solution into production to prepare computers for deployment as part of an EMR (McKesson Paragon/HPF) implementation. This laid the groundwork for me to deploy 500+ machines to hospitals and rural clinics in 5 states. I was also responsible for fielding tickets ranging from AS400 support to AD account management. My hard work and ability to adapt and learn was quickly noticed and I was promoted to Tier II Help Desk Technician within the 3 months of my employment at Pioneer.
I.T Help Desk Technician
After I started my path to my Business Technology degree, I was given the opportunity to be a help desk technician for the IT Manager at the college. When I first began work as the college, I was performing Tier 1 tasks such as desktop support, computer hardware repair, imaging, printer management, and software installations. As I progressed, the IT Manager trusted me with more advanced tasks such as virus removals, AD account management, mapping and documenting our network, and producing documentation for other students informing them of computer basics. By the time I graduated, I was monitoring the ESXI host and VMs, as well as managing the Barracuda Traffic Shaper and Spam Filter.
