I was first introduced to machining in the 9th grade (spring 2009), as soon as I saw the machines and some of the parts that can be produced, I knew that's the class I wanted to take at our local tech school. So my 11th grade year(fall 2010) I began class. Throughout my Junior and Senior years of high school I picked up many skills, and was introduced to many new things. I was able to get experience in everything from blueprint reading to designing parts and creating tool paths in MasterCAM, and from operating a bandsaw to programming, setup, and operation of a HAAS 3 axis CNC Mill. I decided to test these skills in the local SkillsUSA precision machining competition, little did I know, I would go on to win 4th place in the nation on the high school level in the months following my high school graduation. After high school I decided to begin working in the machining field and to continue my education at Calhoun Community College at the same time, and after two years of working full time and going to school full time I completed my Associate of Applied Science degree with concentration in Machine Tool Technology. My previous experience at Schmiede Corp. was in sinker EDM and wire EDM, including, but not limited to: Making a 3D model in esprit using the print, using existing model geometry to extract dimensions and/or make tool paths, make fixtures, program, setup, operation, plan out the electrode shape, undersize, select the right electrode material for the part to be burned, use manual mill, lathe, surface grinder, and hand work to achieve desired electrode shape and size. I completed my Associates of Science in general Studies with concentration in Pre-Engineering, I am also currently pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering with The University of Alabama.
