After pursuing a degree in history from Texas State University, I followed my passion for teaching to both Cedar Creek and Miller Middle Schools, where I taught 6th and 8th grade Social Studies. With vigorous lesson planning, I constructed engaging lessons and presentations aimed to explain complex historical concepts to middle school aged students and provide a foundation for their future studies. My experience in teaching gave me a new perspective on what I wanted to focus my career on. After some personal reflection and investigation I discovered the Master in Professional Accounting Program at UT Austin. My history background honed my ability to analyze events from the past that do not always have a clear answer, and my background in teaching gave me a place to build my public speaking skills, and visual presentation abilities. When I began my journey into a new field I quickly realized how my unique background would translate to success in the Accounting field.My current career interests lie in the Audit and Assurance, and Forensic Accounting fields.
