About Hunter Roth
Hunter Roth was born in New Orleans and raised mostly in Baton Rouge where he earned his BFA from Louisiana State University. He was hired shortly after graduating to manage the Design Shop, a wood shop lab for the College of Art & Design at LSU where he also instructed furniture design classes. In January of 2011, Roth was hired to manage the Creating/Making Lab for the College of Architecture at the University of Oklahoma and teach furniture design. He is multi-talented artist: a painter, drawer, sculptor, printmaker, furniture maker, digital fabricator and musician.Roth has shown his art nationally since 1997. He has had solo shows in New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Houston. He was a featured artist at the Houston ArtCar Museum in 2006 and was awarded the People’s Choice award at the 2008 Baton Rouge Art Car Parade. He also received 2nd place in the LSU School of Art 8th annual Summer Invitational show in 2009. In the summer of 2013, Roth sculpted an interactive 40 foot fishing pole which is currently displayed at the Roy Oliver Ranch in Blanchard, OK and visible from Highway 9. As a furniture maker and designer, Roth has had a long list of clients, from LSU School of Art Alfred C. Glassell Jr. Exhibition Gallery to Quintron the inventor and musician. In addition to his own creations, he has built hundreds of pieces with his students as a furniture design instructor and has helped thousands of students with their projects as a shop manager.

The research associate will evaluate and select digital fabrication technologies for integration into academic, research and applied projects.Research and Development on emerging technologies in digital fabrication. Documents and instructs users in best practices for use of digital fabrication tools. Manages training programs, access, supplies and operations of digital fabrication tools. Represents the College of Architecture, Planning and Public Affairs in university-wide fabrication technology working groups. Collaboration and consultation with faculty, students, researchers and staff on the use and integration of digital fabrication methods into academic, research and applied projects. Works with faculty to identify existing or emerging fabrication technologies which would have a positive impact on education and research, evaluates competing technologies and recommends specific technologies. Works with faculty to identify training and technical resources and to establish best practices for curricular integration. Collaborates with other designers, fabricators, and maker spaces across campus and in the wider community to improve student/faculty access to a wide variety of fabrication resources and expertise. Manages maintenance contracts, maintenance routines and maintenance best practices for all fabrication equipment in the Digital Fabrication Lab. Assists in training Graduate Research Assistants, service desk employees, and other staff on maintenance processes. Collaborate with faculty, researchers and grant writers to procure grant funding to support existing and promote new fabrication technologies in the school.
