I worked at Lone Star Veterinary Hospital as a CSR for two years. My duties here included answering client phone calls, checking in patient appointments, client education, and taking payment for services rendered. For 6 years I worked as a veterinary assistant where I handled patients daily, assisted the veterinarian in physical exams, administered vaccines and injections, and collected samples such as blood, fecals, and urine. The past two years I have been in an office manager position. Here I have taken the role of overseeing all of the hospitals inventory including pet food, drugs, medications, controlled substances, and any supplies the hospital uses. I also manage the employees, create the employee schedule, and host staff meetings. Right now I work as office manager and vet assistant, along with a CSR when needed.

Ability to manage and control animals, involving companion animal and livestock. Confirm and schedule appointments as well as process payments for all services rendered. Responsible for creating the employee schedule, hosting staff meetings, and managing the staff to work as a team. In charge of all food and drug ordering, inventory, and reconciliation.

Part time small animal/on call veterinary assistant in a six doctor practice. Rotated weekly on call schedules with other technicians in the hospital. Responsible for boarding and hopsitalized patients while at work, and on call. Administered vaccines, medications, and treatments to drop off patients, in clinic appointments, and hospitalized patients. Helped monitor and assist with patients during surgeries, including spays, neuters, dental procedures, and many cesarean procedures. Answered on call pages for emergencies that came to the hospital after hours. Learned to place IV catheters and extubate patients after surgeries. Assisted with and helped treat isolation cases such as parvovirus and distemper virus.

Shadowed a doctor, and technician team during winter break for 50 hours. Occasionally assisted in administering medications, helping the technician administer medications, and handling instruments for the doctor while doing procedures. Shadowed on call appointments and routine surgical appointments. Helped the staff retrieve and put away horses back in their respective stalls.
