Data was quickly becoming its most valuable currency, and it needed to innovate to widen the gap between itself and its competitors. HBOS recruited me for my analytics and business development experience to develop a vision for the future of banking, specifically its credit card business. As Chief Marketing Officer, I leaned into the challenge, envisioned and executed a multi-brand roadmap for one of the top retail banks in the UK (22M customers across 1600 branches), and led our 65-member team to deliver excellence in new customer acquisition, customer value management, new product development, and marketing services. I also formed and acted as the Vice Chair of the Card Operating Committee and served on the Personal Lending Risk Committee.During my tenure, we attracted 1M+ new customers (in less than one year), generated $1.3B in total revenue, and achieved 800%+ MROI, while propelling customer experience from an underperformer to eclipsing UK’s Big 4 by 9%, per GfK. Additionally, I headed and completed a portfolio migration of 8M cards from Visa to Mastercard, which was the largest deal of its kind at the time. -

I understood that that data we had was powerful, and even though the tools we had at the time (direct mail) were analog, the impact of the knowledge we developed through data analysis was world-changing. We redefined and reshaped customer engagement through capture and analysis of large data sets; our team subsequently won the SAS Enterprise Intelligence Award (2005) for new analytics technology. Experimentation, data analysis, and a vision for a future ideal state became the steel thread through my entire career.As a foundation for my innovative work, I owned the P&L and led a team of 50 managing credit cards and loans in the UK market. Managing customers across direct-to-consumer, branch, and call centers, I led the strategy to add several hundreds of thousands in new credit card customers, driving the business to exceed ~5M users and $1B annual net income. Through my work, the bank launched several products, including new cards in 5 contact centers, and upskilled 1,600 representatives to achieve stellar sales goals. -
