I’m passionate about developing or leveraging new technologies that help people with their health & wellness and bringing those technologies to the commercial marketplace. Projects I’ve pursued in the past include developing computers for acquiring and processing nuclear medicine computers; creating a functional MRI center for neurosurgical pre-operative visualization of brain functional areas; telerobotic surgical mentoring; working on cognitive prosthetics for individuals with brain injury; developing a functional NIR brain-machine-interface to assist individuals with ALS communicate and control their environment; design and create a wrist worn fatigue monitor; and develop mobile and web technologies to assist patients, researchers, and clinicians manage a variety of medical conditions. Plus a few other projects, less health focused along the way.I have written numerous funding proposals and been P.I. on over $35M in awards over the last 20 years. A driving force behind all my research is my need to get innovation into the hands of people who need it and that has led me to become versed in entrepreneurship, product design, product development, manufacturing, 510K FDA submission, marketing, and sales. In my commercial ventures, I’ve also raised several million in external investor funding to pursue and grow those ventures.
