Product Marketing Manager

Current

Remote

As the Product Marketing Manager at Going, I’ve had the opportunity to lead and launch more than a dozen go-to-market campaigns, coordinating efforts across all teams to bring our products and features in front of our 2 million members and beyond.I got to lead launching our mobile app, for example, which was a company-spanning initiative of more than 20 marketing tactics, touching every team at Going. It also became one of our most successful campaigns of all time, tripling our initial download goal, beating brands like Taco Bell and Etsy in the top 100 apps (yes, really!), and creating a new mobile-first path for the business.I love what I do here, not only on the functional front, but because of our innovative approach to traveling: Instead of deciding on a vacation destination and then finding a flight deal to get there, members use our app to book their next trip based on the best deals available. Members regularly tell us they are going places and having experiences they never thought possible because of our deals. Today, I continue to work closely with all departments to ensure our marketing campaigns are timely, data-driven, and that stakeholders remain informed at key parts of campaign development. I look forward to continue building out my role here alongside some of the smartest, cleverest, most capable folks I've ever had the privilege to work with.

Manager, Social Media

Remote

I joined Going (at the time we were Scott's Cheap Flights) during the pandemic as the Social Media Manager. I've always thrived in the unknown, and I love a challenge. Need to promote a travel brand when nobody is traveling? I can solve for that. And I did - I took our attributable sign-ups on social media from an average of 300 new users per month to 15,000 (yes, per month) within my first 60 days on the job. I also became a people manager in this role, formally making us the social media *team* a few months into my time here. Together we continued to grow our social presence as travel disrupters, and in doing so, we developed a killer employer brand with some of our highest performing employees coming to us directly from the work we did. I love people leadership and look forward to coming back to it in the near future. The transition from social media to product marketing (my next role at Going) isn't as random as it might seem: Product marketing is HOW I leveled up our social media presence. We have something unique here, and the more I talked about it online, the more folks flocked to it. Now I just get to do it with a lot more marketing tactics, but I will never forget what social media taught me!

Owner | Turned $1 Into $500,000

Voyage Is A Verb

Tempe, Az

One of the coolest things I've done in my life is turning $1 into $500,000 through sheer will and grit.My journey into entrepreneurship began in 2013 with a passion for sustainability in fashion, a $1 thrifted dress, and a 99 cent eBay auction. The moment I saw I was capable of turning $1 into $10 (the winning bid), my world opened up. I took that $10 and reinvested into another $1 sale - 10 more items to flip. 10 more ebay auctions. And thus Voyage was born.My goal was simple: Bootstrap my small business and find new homes for as much secondhand clothing as possible. It was a goal rooted in sustainability, providing women with fashionable clothing at a fraction of the retail price, and a healthy competition with myself. I ran most of my marketing through social media, making me an absolute force in this kind of marketing (which you can see in my transition over to Going). One of the key areas of learning during this time was adaptability. For example, when the pandemic hit and my partner and I were unable to source inventory in person, I pivoted by 1) sourcing bulk inventory from places like Nordstrom who had no way at the time to resell returned items and 2) launching an online course on how to build a resale website with Shopify, generating over $10k from my peers in the the first month of course launch. This adaptation not only sustained us but also expanded our horizons. But the coolest part of this journey was when I was featured on the NASDAQ billboard and investor documents as a key success story for when Poshmark went public - the best two truths and a lie contribution EVER.Through this journey, I learned that there are countless ways to solve problems and that change is the only constant. This path has instilled in me the resilience, confidence, and drive to tackle any challenge. Even as my career evolves and I work for others once again, I carry the spirit of entrepreneurship with me everywhere I go.

Mar 2013 - Feb 2021

Director Of Content Development

Remote

As the Director of Content Development, I primarily led content strategies to educate and market our fundraising software solution to university students and fundraising professionals. I was our lead copywriter, so I wrote (or signed off on) vital outgoing communications and public-facing content, which included everything from our business plan to investor letters to our website copy. Funderbolt was built with Ruby on Rails, and I also worked inside the code with our development team to write the copy for our product's onboarding system and tips for success. I also learned how to use GitHub in order to collaborate and move projects forward with my team.

Feb 2015 - Jan 2019

Support Specialist, Content Writer

Remote

This was my first remote position, and it showed me early on in my career that remote work is the way. I have come to fall in love with remote culture and teaching others how to secure jobs in this space.I began by running support but quickly moved into content writing for blogs with a focus on SEO. The subject matter was technical, comprised of gas fireplaces, grills, etc, but it wasn't the first or last time I wrote content for experts when I am indeed not one.Through this experience with Spotlight, I had the opportunity to travel internationally while networking and building rapport with vendors and manufacturers. I loved this job - the first one of my adult career - which paved the way for the beautiful, creative, remote life I've come to build for myself! Cheers, Spotlight!
