Reported to the Global Business Unit (BU) Managing Director of Alcoa of Australia, and functionally to the CFO of Alcoa Corporation.A dual CFO role, accountable for the financial oversight of the global alumina business to bring a strategic, common global perspective, with ownership of the global operating financials and working capital and;For the Australian regional financial processes, governance, controls and services supporting Alcoa of Australia and other legal entities. Leadership of the Australian finance functions including finance, accounting, taxation, treasury, business partnering, audit, risk management, and credit management.Accountabilities were delivered by: 1. Working as a partner to the regional CEO / President, accountable for the financial performance of the business, driving strategic and operating planning processes, risk management, controllership, and commercial analysis;2. Leading, coaching and developing a regional and global finance function, building capability and a continuous improvement culture;3. As Finance Director on the Alcoa of Australia Board, provided all financial, governance and risk management matters, and support for the company secretary; 4. Driving strong cost management processes across the business;5. Managing relationships with external stakeholders including shareholders, auditors, banking institutions, and credit agencies.Achievements• Managed the global Alumina business financials during the lowest commodity price in a 20 year history, whilst maintaining commitments to statutory, EHS and asset integrity;• Developed the initial 10-year strategic plans for each asset in the portfolio;• Transformed a regional business model to global business model;• Developed a high powered diverse finance team, focused on business partnering;• Significant commercial contracts that delivered sustainable savings and underpinned asset growth;• Implemented robust internal controls across the global portfolio.

Reporting to the CFO, and effectively the 2IC for Finance in Australia, the role had Australian regional oversight of all financial processes, statutory requirements, board and senior management reporting, financial team leadership and development. The role was responsible for leadership and oversight of financial shared services encompassing payroll, product costing, fixed capital, and accounts payable. Focused on delivering an in control, efficient and cost effective service.As the regional financial accounting lead, the role ensured:• Compliance and interpretation of financial accounting (IFRS/USGAAP/SOX) and statutory reporting, including annual presentation to the board of statutory accounts;• Leadership, coaching and development of the corporate finance team;• Co-ordination of annual and quarterly external audits; • Co-ordination and consolidation planning processes encompassing annual budgeting, various frequency forecasting and cash flows;• Principal contact on financial accounting with external auditors;• Overall process owner for financial systems (Oracle / Hyperion), month end closing and consolidation.As a member of the Australian Commercial Lead Team, worked closely with other functional leads ensuring alignment to business objectivesAs the Chair of the Australian Finance Lead Team, our focus was to reduce transactional processes, and continue the transition of being recognised as a valuable partner to the business. Underpinning the finance team success, was a continual focus on the finance organisational structure, capability, succession planning and people development. ACHIEVEMENTS• Led an overhead cost reduction program, achieving 20% (~$10 million);• Improvements in reporting and process efficiencies, through effective sponsorship of teams to apply a continuous improvement focus on reporting, financial closing, and effective use of their time.

Reporting directly to the Global Directors of Audit for Finance and EHS, the role was responsible for:• The delivery of the internal audit function across the Australia / Asia region, covering financial and business processes, Sarbanes Oxley, Health and Safety, Environment and IT disciplines;• Leadership and development of the direct reporting team of 5 people, with audit team sizes ranging from 2 – 20 people;• Providing independent reporting to the Alcoa of Australia Limited board;• Delivering the annual SOX program, working closely with the external audit firm;• Responsible for independent review of location compliance to corporate and statutory requirements, identifying business risk, deficiencies, and best practices;• Completion of rapid integration reviews for new acquisitions;• Deliver audit processes in an efficient and cost-effective manner;• Provide audit and controllership training to the region;• Responsible for completion on internal investigations at directed by legal.ACHIEVEMENTS• Successful implementation of US Sarbanes Oxley requirements for Australian entities;• Significant "Gap Analysis" work on newly acquired Asian locations as part of Alcoa’s rapid integration process to identify key control deficiencies and develop action plans collaboratively with the location;• Established audit team in China as part of lowering audit costs and driving a stronger understanding of required controllership within the region.
