I enjoy writing stories. Most are about my outdoor adventures with family and friends, but the one I share in my daily work is about a summer camp—Pine Island Camp. It’s a story of drifting to sleep in a canvas tent to the call of loons, of paddling past moose drinking from the river, of summiting mountain peaks with endless views. It’s about challenges that felt insurmountable and triumphs made possible through teamwork. It’s about boys learning to connect with nature, care for themselves and each other, and build a community where everyone has a role. This is the story of Pine Island Camp.
