Sr Process Development Engineer
Current• Extensive research and 19 months of engineering trials to develop a slit die curtain coater prototype which moved from proto steel to polycarbonate and planned and trialed for UV printing reducing cost and weight• Developed a test bed and modified conveyance, added timing circuits and proximity detectors to feed a proto coating line and evaluate rheological problems associated with die head fill and its related rheological oddities. Result a high-pressure feed line with cascading pressure reductions and a pulse damper for delivery to the die head• Extensive reporting of developments and high-resolution video of process developments throughout development. Leica Photo microscopy and software image analysis of coating and material properties• Rule in rule out requirements for coating line hardware, sub-assemblies; in an effort to cover all bases but make the tool as simple as possible• Engaged third party outside resources and quoted a Universal Robots (CoBot) robotic coating line using the die head and high-pressure feedline• Developed a stage two, advanced roll to roll coating line, evaluated and reduced engineering obstacles to move it forward to reach mass production levels. Concept brought from paper to full quote. Coat ahead and assemble using lamination process.
