Dr. Bostanci is a Professor and Associate Chair for Graduate Programs in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at UNT, and Co-Director of the UNT Industrial Assessment Center (UNTIAC). His major research and teaching area is thermal sciences.He conducts both fundamental and applied research, and possesses experience at various stages of technology development projects such as conceptualizing, designing, building, testing and evaluating prototypes, demonstrating technology feasibility, and reporting. He has been leading or actively contributing to projects for the US federal R&D agencies, US military, prime defense contractors, and industry.He authored 50+ publications including book chapter, refereed journal articles and conference proceedings, and technical reports.Dr. Bostanci currently directs the Thermal Management Lab with research focuses on:* High-heat-flux thermal management with two-phase cooling techniques (nucleate boiling, spray cooling, enhanced heat transfer surfaces, miniature refrigeration cycles, bulk and nanoencapsulated phase change materials) for applications in computing, power electronics, electro-optics* Microgravity transport phenomena, particularly phase separation, and heat and mass transfer for applications in spacecraft/space habitat life support (air revitalization) systems* Stirling cycle-based energy conversion technologies (innovative rotary displacer Stirling engine) for applications in distributed power generation and waste heat recovery.
