CurrentHussein is a Treasury and Capital Markets Partner at Deloitte leading the Financial Instruments Advisory Services team. His team is dedicated to providing advice on matters relating to financial instruments (including derivatives) with a specific focus on financial risk management, valuations and financial instruments accounting (compliance with IAS 39, 32 and 7). Hussein has significant experience in financial risk management advising clients on matters relating to design and implementation of treasury controls, treasury audits, review and implementation of treasury policies, and review of corporate governance over treasury operations including reports to the board and hedging strategies (interest rate, inflation, foreign currency, commodity and other price risks), Hussein’s relevant experience includes:• Review of market risk measures including VaR, stress & scenario testing, profit or loss attribution, inclusion of credit spread in financial instruments • Review of treasury operations to manage credit, liquidity and market risk (including interest rate risk, foreign currency risk, commodity price risk etc)• Consulting on hedging strategies such as interest rates, foreign currencies, inflation, energy & commodities• Consulting on treasury KPI’s including credit, liquidity and market risk. This included peer benchmarking and better market practices• Implementation of AASB 139, AASB 132, AASB 7 with specific focus on hedge accounting across various clients and industries• Expert knowledge on review of financial instruments valuation models for consistency with market conventions, industry and within AASB 139 parameters• Managed statutory audits of various banks including HSBC, Citibank, and Standard Chartered Bank.
