During the company’s 31 years, Huston & Company has designed and built furniture for a wide range of customers. In addition to our residential customers, our projects include public libraries, colleges and universities, independent schools, corporations, and small businesses. Projects range in scope from a single coffee table to libraries or offices full of Huston & Company furniture. Our furniture is still built by hand, one piece at a time in our workshop in Kennebunkport. 10 years ago my son, Saer, joined Huston & Company. Together we create new designs and develop plans for new projects. My own designs have evolved over time and have been shaped not by one period or style, but by many influences. Saer has added his own design influences and ideas, filling out our range of aesthetics. In our work at Huston & Company, there are elements of Scandinavian clarity and simplicity, of Shaker honesty of materials, of the ordered symmetry and linear comfort of the Arts and Craft style, and the subtleness of Asian design. Having designed and built thousands of pieces of furniture, we have developed an innate sense of proportion and dimension that together with our design integration gives a unifying thread that runs throughout our furniture. There is something about every piece that comes out of our shop that says, “This is a Huston piece”.
