Rainbow Lake Oil & Gas Processing Plant

Supervised Plant Operations teams, including all levels of Power Engineers, developing skills and careers along the way. The facility included sweet /sour gas & oil processing units, NGL extraction, gas compression, steam production, co-generation and injection facilities for various EOR options. Successes included an incident free, 3 week plant Turnaround and restart of joint venture CoGeneration facilities that had been out of service since 2016.

Surmont

Provide recommendations and support to Operations, Maintenance & Technical teams. Evaluate and overcome the challenges of ramping up new SAGD production facilities and wells. The goal was to improve reliability of new equipment, optimize the facility operations, and safely ramp up production to design capacity. Also provide 1st Class Chief Power Engineer coverage as required. All of which were accomplished.

Surmont

Led Phase 1 Well Pad Operators as we safely maximized production from existing mature well pads. We also began converting the newest Phase 1 well pad from gas lift to ESP lift, optimizing the transition process. During this time, I assumed Chief Power Engineer responsibilities during final operation, decommissioning & shut down of the 3rd Class Pilot SAGD Plant, redeploying the operations teams to other areas of Surmont Operations.

Surmont

Developed & Co-Supervised SAGD Field and Process Operations Teams during pre-operations (Calgary) and on-site (Surmont) commissioning activities. Co-Led two of five operations teams as we commissioned & operated new facilities concurrently. Ongoing start up of additional bitumen treating trains, infield pipelines and multiple SAGD well pads during all seasons. The teams met all HSE and Business Objectives.

Tucker Lake Sagd Facility

Co-managed Operations teams during start up of the Tucker Lake SAGD Plant and Field. Coordinated 7 years of Field Operations activities for ~ 50 SAGD well pairs producing from the challenging Clearwater and Grand Rapids Oilsands plays.

Foster Creek Sagd

Worked with Operations teams, Maintenance teams, Reservoir and Production Engineers during ramp up of commercial production at the Foster Creek SAGD Facility (McMurray Oilsands play). A Field contact and monitor when installing, testing and successfully using high temp ESPs for SAGD production wells, testing steam splitter subs, commissioning the first infill well at the pilot facility and commissioned brackish water wells/HDPE pipeline. Attained 1st Class Power Engineering Certificate.

Sexmith Sour/Sweet Gas Palnts

Worked in all units as Plant Operator, then a CRO/Shift Engineer. This plant was operated by AEC West which became Encana. I transferred from this plant to the Foster Creek SAGD Operation.

Medicine Lodge Gas Plant

Operated the Medicine Lodge Sour Gas plant south of Edson, Alberta. Attained 3rd & 2nd Class Power Engineer Certification at this facility, as a Plant operator, CRO and Shift Engineer.

Hanlan-Robb Gas Plant

Worked summer relief Operator at the Hanlan-Robb Sour Gas Plant, working mostly the inlet, refrigeration and dehydration units. Also, contracted through third party as a maintenance person during Spring turn-around. Attained 4th Class Power Engineer Certification.
