I have almost 10 years of experience as a professional pension scheme trustee and a portfolio of clients ranging in AUM from £15mn to £5bn. My particular areas of expertise include risk settlement, scheme funding, mortality, professional affairs and IORP II (aka Solvency II for pensions).As a consulting actuary I advised schemes ranging from small insured arrangements to £1bn+ funds and sponsors ranging from SMEs to multinationals on a full range of primarily UK pensions actuarial issues. I also have experience of providing such advice while working for an insurance company and while working for both small and large consultancies.I was a member of the Council of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) and the IFoA’s Regulation Board, Health & Care Board, Solvency II Steering Group, Pensions & Long Term Care Steering Group, Standard Framework Review Working Party. I used to chair the IFoA’s Pensions Board and its Pensions Education and CPD Committee. I have served as a member of the profession's Audit & Risk committee and as an investigating actuary for the profession and I have also represented the IFoA in meetings and events with the European Commission, EIOPA, HM Treasury, DWP, Bank of England, tPR, FRC and the NAPF. I also represented the ACA as Chair of the NAPF’s Longevity Research Steering Group and was a member of the Association Actuariel European’s Pension Solvency Working Group.In the past I participated in tPR’s stakeholder groups on scheme funding and the review of the EU Pensions Directive. I also served as the TPAS Regional Organiser for Surrey.
