This cross-disciplinary skill set combined with lateral thinking, tenacity, and a highly positive can-do attitude is a rare combination that enables the successful commercialization of new technology.Huw has 10 years of experience in the application of electronic monitoring to the behavior and development of honey bee colonies with particular expertise in acoustics and data analytics techniques. This work is underpinned by 20 years of beekeeping experience coupled with a good knowledge of bee biology. However it is recognising the synergy that lies between sensor data, combined with clear intuitive data presentation that provides users real insight into the status of bee colonies. It is understanding this, combined with a flair for product design, that has lead to what is widely regarded as the best beehive monitoring system on the market today (American Bee Journal Dec 2018).During the last 10 years, Huw has worked closely with bee scientists, Agritech businesses, commercial and hobby beekeepers in more than 20 countries. He has a deep understanding of their different data needs and the benefits that hive monitoring can bring to these customer groups. He is very well connected and respected in the global bee world, having presented at major national and international conferences and participated in several collaborative R&D projects.
