Appointed under Regulation 8.1c (Quarry Regs) I am the Unit manager of Eysey Manor Quarrying operations - a mid-sized sand and gravel operation producing approximately 200,000 tpa of high quality aggregate productI am also the Manager of Lower farm Quarry (restoration project) based in Newbury, Berkshire Eysey Manor Quarrying Operations consists of:- Active Sand and Gravel Quarry - Non- Hazardous Landfill- Recycling plant - Crushing and Processing of recovered Asphalt- Active Restoration site - Aggregates Lab - Concrete Plant (Specialist) Reporting to the South West Area Operations Manager, as the Unit manager I have overall resposibility for:- Co-ordinating all aspects of day to day operation of the quarry through the Assistant Manager Supervisors Contractors and team of operatives- Work closely with maintenance team to coordinate maintenance activities during a normal day and during shutdowns- Liaise with customers regarding delivery and quality issues as well as managing the complaints system- Drive the culture of health and safety- Ensure all staff and contractors working on site are fully inducted and comply with Tarmac standards and policies- Carry out and record daily safety briefings, weekly health and safety inspections for the site- Organise training for employees/contractors - Plan and schedule upcoming phases of pre production and production areas - Manage and report all aspects of the operation (financial, production, Health and safety, waste management, Quality Assurance,stock levels etc) on a weekly (telephone) and monthly (regional) basis to Tarmac Corporate Management

The Basis of my employment at IMC Mining Group is as a consultant Mining Engineer, working mainly on large underground coal mines within Australia (Qld & NSW) with a smaller focus on open cut operations. My key duties while fulfilling this role are Due Diligence, Short & Long Term (Life of Mine) scheduling, Mine Planning/Design and rectifying possible breaches in legislation (with respect to underground coal planning/scheduling in Qld)

Since commencing employment I was heavily involved with the initiative to provide the Queensland mining industry awareness of Proximity Detection/Collision Avoidance systems via presenting/organising a series of seminars throughout the state. I was also seconded to an underground colliery in Australia for a 6 month period to gain knowledge and experience in differing conditions and different methods of coal extraction. The Mine of my secondment was a flagship operations of BMA (BHP, Mitsu Alliance) located within the Bowen Basin.

Starting as a student engineer, upon competing my degree returned as a Gaduate Mining Engineer full time on shift working in a development heading and sinking a new drift
