I am currently Head of Society and English Education for the British Council in Japan. The British Council is the UK’s international organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations. Our society work in Japan covers: social innovation and social and eco-entrepreneurship, especially the evolving role of business in promoting social innovation; environment and sustainability issues; and science and society issues. Our English education work is working in the areas of policy dialogue, teacher training and the promotion of on-line English resources.I am also the British Project Manager for E-idea. Together with our partner Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance (LRQA), the British Council provides seed funding, mentoring and training, and networking opportunities to young eco-entrepreneurs who have creative ideas or projects to make their communities more sustainable.
