Leading engineering effort of globally distributed teams located in Asia, Europe and USA to produce next generation of services, platforms, application and tools to drive business needs of ~$1B Pearson English line.

Several major projects I was working on during this endeavor:Edge 2.0 – next generation of company’s flagship product, development of which required a full rewrite of entire codebase by 3 geographically dispersed (USA/Korea/India) teams. I have created project plan, defined milestones, teams, roles, goals and established agile work environment and processes for collaborative development. During entire development period led teams to success by sharing and applying agile best practices, setting priorities and goals, providing architectural designs, defining processes. To the Cloud - initiated, planned and led all the way till completion move of production and staging environments to Microsoft Windows Azure. I have started a new operations team working side by side with engineers, seeded and nurtured DevOps culture. Improved site uptime, health visibility and monitoring, reliability and scalability, upgraded entire infrastructure, established disaster recovery environment all while saving company $350k a year.Debt Killers – lead agile team to rapidly improve site stability, reliability and performance to prevent potentially disastrous outcomes which became possible due to accumulated over the years technical debt and lack of investment in critical areas. For almost a year worked shoulder to shoulder with best engineers across entire technology stack to refactor, rewrite, redo or replace core application pieces and infrastructure. Automated builds and deployment, simplified release processes, decoupled key systems and scaled out product development by spawning several more efficient agile teams with clearly defined goals and responsibilities.

Edge – next generation of company’s flagship product. I have designed and implemented all application APIs including automatic write and speech evaluation engines. Established development best practices, build system, defined application internal modularized architecture, lead code review sessions, defined work pieces for contractors, offshore engineers and local team, lead project development all the way from its inception to successful release to customers.Step Plus – designed and implemented English speaking skill assessment tool, part of GlobalEnglish product suite which includes speech capture and transfer to server, utility to score speech by human scorers, utility to manage tests and scorers by scorer manager, reports. GlobalEnglish Productivity Toolbar – built updateable and customizable browser toolbar with collection of productivity tools such as Translate, Hear-it and quick access links into GlobalEnglish product suite.

XPM Performance Optimization – implemented series tasks/tweaks/re-factorings improving overall web site performance. Optimized application memory use and eliminated memory leaks. Improved application stability and application cache longevity. Optimized multithreaded resources access, handling of critical resources and improved average response time twice. Transaction Utility – Designed and implemented utility, part of Customer Service Representative Policy Management application suite used by Production Support Team to facilitate faster, more efficient and effective with their tasks within facility.

WEB Emergency Department – as a sole engineer designed and implemented Emergency Department patient tracking system. System bundled together with Electronic Medical Record System (below) makes a complete suite for management of Emergency Department flow starting with patient check in and finishing with patient discharge. Electronic Medical Record System – as a sole engineer designed and implemented a platform used to implement custom EMR solutions for healthcare providers. Platform consists of collection of custom controls to build medical forms and templates, form constructor and form player. Capabilities include: plug-n-play new form templates, print on different devices including prescription printers, supported integration with TopazSystems signature pads for signature capturing, integration with medication database, error validation and barcoding.

Expression Builder – designed and implemented a set of screens and background logic within main application that are used for formula building, parsing and expressions calculation, that are used as user defined data sources for major subsystems: reports, charts and multi-panels.Multipanels – developed subsystem used for graphical representation of oil-gathering industry data such as earth lithology, geology, fracture mapping, reservoirs, well assembly, trajectory and path. This subsystem also allowed for real-time visualization of fracturing and drilling processes.Charts – developed subsystem and set of methods for analyzing and processing data gathered from different data sources within the main system. This subsystem provided graphical data representation with runtime analyses.Reports – developed subsystem for creating, managing and editing reports embedded into main products Fracpro Modules, Fieldpro Modules. Exporting of result report to different formats (HTML, RTF, XML, XLS, PowerPoint).

Participated in developing plot generation and data acquisition libraries, designed and creation of visualization subsystem for the drilling and petroleum production processes, pseudo-3D graphic framework suitable to display and animate complex machinery assemblies in real-time.

CAM System (for BATE) – asset management module for warehouse department of the major state machine-building enterprise.
