I am the Assistant Director of the Massachusetts General Hospital Center for Digital Mental Health, a psychologist at MGH, and an assistant professor at Harvard Medical School. I also serve on the American Psychological Association's Mental Health Tech Advisory Committee and am co-Chair of the Society of Digital Mental Health's 2024 conference planning committee. My research leverages technology to improve assessments and treatments for mental illnesses. I also study cognition and emotions in mental illness, with a particular focus on the harmful effects of shame in obsessive compulsive related disorders, and risk for suicidal thoughts and substance use. My work is funded by a career development award from NIMH (Principal Investigator), fellowships from Harvard Medical School (Principal Investigator), and industry collaborations (co-I, Project Director). I have skills and experience in developing smartphone CBT treatments in cross-functional teams, designing clinical trials to test smartphone CBT, directing tech-focused research and managing study teams, providing clinical care and supervision, writing grant proposals and scientific papers, communicating about science with lay audiences, contributing as clinical expert on regulatory risk teams, and presenting a digital therapeutic pre-submission to the FDA. Alongside my research, I provide evidence-based therapy for OCD, body dysmorphic disorder, anxiety disorders, body-focused repetitive behaviors, and related conditions through a private practice in Boston.
