Architectural responsibilities included: owner’s representative, design of all interior and exterior common spaces, exterior cladding and storefront design, partitioning of all apartment types, designing the kitchen millwork and appliance packages, model apartment design, and construction administration services through the certificate of occupancy.Rocky Point House | Single-Family | Rowayton, CT3,000 sf new construction house located on the Long Island Sound with 180 degree water and NYC skyline views. The house is elevated 18’ above sea level, a FEMA requirement, which makes the occupant feel as if they are floating above the water and is reminiscent of a yacht interior. The house is scheduled to be the cover story of Elle Decor in summer 2019. Architectural responsibilities included: FEMA Flood Zone compliance, landscape and grading design, filing drawings and community board presentation for permit, steel frame analysis, and construction administration.Culver City House | Single-Family | Culver City, CA3,000 sf new construction residence in the Lindberg Park area of Culver City, CA. The house draws inspiration from the works of Irving Gill who defined the aesthetic of Southern California architecture in the early 20th century. This project is currently under construction with an estimated completion date of late 2019. Architectural responsibilities included: permit approval, construction documents, construction administration, and structural and earthquake review with the engineering consultant.

Shelborne South Beach | Hospitality | Miami BeachThis 1940s Art Deco landmark is one of the most iconic hotels in South Beach. The hotel owner hosted a weekend-long interior design competition that RMD won due to attention to details, quality of custom furniture, and cohesiveness of design which were all within budget. The approach was to bring back the art deco charm of the building while adding tasteful, modern luxuries. Architectural responsibilities included: managing contractor remotely from NYC, created and presented competition materials, design and contracting custom furniture, coordination of deliveries to site, rollout package for future upgrades.Homer | Retail | New York, NY2,000 sf home goods store that showcases the furniture, lighting, and home accessory designs of RMD brand Homer. Located in Greenwich Village, the store became an instant success and had a New York Times article written about it’s interior design. Architectural responsibilities included: construction documents, bidding, construction administration,and purchasing and delivery coordination.

Hugh’s time at Chris Blake Architect was a formative experience focusing on small commericial projects, new construction single-family houses, and residential additions and renovations. Due to the small size of the firm, he was able to work on each aspect of a project, from zoning and filing through construction administration, which helped him bring the projects to fruition and understand the architectural process from an early stage in his professional career. The high level of responsibility allowed him to excel within Chris Blake Architect and positioned him for his growing responsibilities in his future jobs.
